Profile on implementation of Public Distribution Systems in Churachandpur District as on 12.03.2018
The Department of Consumer Affair Food & Public Distribution (CAF & PD) In Churachandpur District has a network of 367 Fair Price Shops in Churachandpur district and 57 Fair Price Shops in Pherjawl district comprising of 424 Fair Price Shops (FPS) which function in the six segments of Assembly Constituencies. The Department plays an important role in procurement and supply of Food grains to the general public through the Fair Price Shop centres. There are about 4992 household families under AAY (Antodhya Anna Yojna ) in Churachandpur district and 843 household under AAY families in Pherjawl district. There are 187129 population under Priority houshold in Churachandpur district and 30401 population under priority household in Pherjawl district respectively.
The main target of the department is to make NFSA rice and other items available to the public at minimum supporting price. The NFSA rice ensures availability of essential commodity items mainly rice at a very low price to mostly of the unprivileged and marginalized people. The regular supply of NFSA rice to the Public not only benefited the poor, but also directly or indirectly control the existing price hike in the market.
So far, there is no FCI go-down in the district. Therefore, all food grains are procured directly from Sangaiprou, Imphal through approved Transport Contractors who are appointed by Govt. of Manipur. The transportation charges are paid by the Govt. at an approved rate fixed from time to time.
There is one old go-down in Churachandpur district head quarter with a capacity of 500 MT. This go-down is the main transit point where food grains are ferried to various Sub-divisions of the district for distribution to the household beneficiaries through the fair price shop agents.
There are 5 (five) kerosene dealers in the district which supply S.K.Oil to the S.K.Oil sub Dealers monthly. The present allotment of S.K.Oil for Churachandpur district is 120 KL. This allotment of S.K.Oil by the state Government is sub allocated to all the S.K.Oil Sub-Dealers for onward distribution to the public.
NFSA rice is issued to Rationing Agents for onward distribution to the beneficiaries at the scale of 35 Kgs per AAY card holders and 5 Kgs per head to Priority card holders @ Rs 3/- per Kg.
